Kanał portowy Nyhavn jest jednym z najbardziej
urokliwych miejsc Kopenhagi. Stojące nad kanałem kolorowe kamieniczki
skrywają w swych wnętrzach ogromną ilość restauracji, kawiarni i pubów,
jednak w czasie gorącego, letniego dnia (i wieczoru), bardzo trudno tam
znaleźć jakiś pusty stolik.
Przycumowane wzdłuż kanału żaglówki, łajby i statki
dodają temu miejscu uroku, i sprawiają, że siędzący przy rozlożonych na
dworze stolikach spacerowicze mogą poczuć tęsknotę za morską wyprawą.
Nyhavn
tłumaczy się dosłownie jako Nowy Port, lecz jego wygląd i długoletnia
historia przeczy tej nazwie. Nyhavn został zbudowany w latach 1671 - 73 z
inicjatywy króla Christiana V, którego zamysłem było przybliżyć ruch
wodny i handel do centrum miasta, oraz zezwolić handlarzom wybudować swe
domy wzdłuż kanału. Pomysł ten udał się doskonale, statki zawijały do
portu, aby sprzedać swój ładunek, marynarze zaś bawili się w wielu
pubach i tawernach ulokowanych wzdłuż kanału, w towarzystwie pięknych
pań.

Sailboats moored along the canal, and ships łajby add charm to the place, and make sitting at outdoor tables spread strollers can feel the longing for the sea trip.
Nyhavn literally translates as New Port, but its appearance and long-term history contradicts that name. Nyhavn was built between 1671 to 1673 on the initiative of King Christian V, the idea was to bring the water traffic and commerce to the city center, and allow traders to build their homes along the canal. This idea went well, ships at the port to sell his cargo, sailors and played in many pubs and taverns located along the canal, in the company of beautiful women.
