Klasztor Zakonu Chrystusa to najważniejszy zabytek w niewielkim portugalskim mieście Tomar. W 1983 roku został wpisany na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Reprezentuje charakterystyczny dla Portugalii styl manueliński (nazwany tak od imienia

panującego wówczas Manuela I), odmianę gotyku. Najbardziej wyrazistym reprezentantem tego stylu jest nawa dobudowana w pierwszej połowie XV wieku oraz zaprojektowany przez João de Castilho portal. Budowla jest niezwykła, gdyż łączy w sobie cechy klasztoru i zamku. W 1160 roku powstał zamek, a dopiero później dobudowano klasztor. Podczas zwiedzania zdecydowanie bardziej w oczy rzuca się warowny charakter zabytku. Nie ma w tym nic dziwnego, jeśli weźmiemy pod uwagę fakt, że służył jako siedziba templariuszy. W 1810 roku Napoleon przeznaczył klasztor na baraki dla swoich żołnierzy, czym doprowadził do znacznych zniszczeń. Na cały kompleks klasztorny składa się tak naprawdę 8 budynków, każdy z nich jest nieco inny. Są to m.in. Klasztor Cmentarny, Klasztor św. Barbary, Klasztor Jana III.

Convent of the Order of Christ is the most important monument in the small Portuguese town of Tomar. In 1983 he was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Portugal represents typical Manueline style (named after the then Manuel I), the variety of Gothic. The most conspicuous representative of this style is the nave added in the first half of the fifteenth century and designed by João de Castilho portal.
