St Andrews – miasto w Fife w Szkocji, nad Morzem Północnym. W 2003 r. miasto to zamieszkiwało około 16 000 osób. St Andrews jest siedzibą najstarszego w Szkocji uniwersytetu
i posiada jedne z najstarszych pól golfowych na świecie. Miasteczko
położone jest nad szeroką zatoką na północno-wschodnim wybrzeżu hrabstwa
Fife.
St Andrews założył w 1140 biskup Robert prawdopodobnie w pobliżu ruin obecnego zamku. Zgodnie z królewskim edyktem z roku 1170, nowe miasto zostało zbudowane na zachód od katedry wzdłuż Castle Street. W 1357 wybudowano Scone Palace który mieścił wówczas władze miejskie.

ośrodkiem uniwersyteckim i turystycznym.
Podczas II wojny światowej w St Andrews stacjonował I Korpus Polski wraz z jego dowódcą, Wodzem Naczelnym gen. broni Władysławem Sikorskim.
W centralnym punkcie miasta stoi pomnik poświęcony jego pamięci.
Obecność polskich wojsk potwierdza również obraz umieszczony na jednej
ze ścian urzędu miasta oraz liczne ilustrowane publikacje znajdujące się
w bibliotece Uniwersytetu w St Andrews.

St Andrews founded in 1140 Bishop Robert probably near the ruins of the present castle. According to a royal edict from the year 1170, a new city was built to the west of the cathedral along Castle Street. In 1357 Scone Palace was built which housed the municipal authorities.
In the Middle Ages, the city was the spiritual capital of Scotland, and had extensive economic and political influence. In 1559, he began a period of the Reformation, and the English broke out soon after the civil war that plunged the city into chaos, and deprived of the status. Even the university considered moving to Perth between 1697 and 1698.
In the nineteenth century, the city began to grow again due to emerging new golf courses here, which meant that the prestige of the city has increased significantly. It was established then many seasonal villas and hotels. Today, St Andrews is a university center and tourist destination.
